What should my child bring to GATE class?
Students should bring their agenda to class weekly along with any completed homework that has been assigned. The agenda will be used as a parent-teacher communication tool. A parent signature is expected to acknowledge any special notes from the GATE teacher

Does my child need additional supplies for GATE?
Yes! Your child will be expected to have the necessary supplies listed on our GATE supply list located on the teacher webpage if you are able to purchase. Additional items may be requested throughout the school year depending on need. Special projects may call for additional items not listed on the supply list.

When will I receive information about what to expect in GATE this year?
You will learn most of what to expect for the upcoming school year during the GATE Orientation Night. Please plan to attend this informational session. We look foward to seeing you then.
Also, please check the teacher webpage regularly to stay abreast of what is going on in class. Ms. Carter will often post important information in the "Carter News" section of the webpage. Be sure to check it weekly. Text messages will be sent when an update has been made via Remind101. Please be sure to register for Remind101 no later than the 2nd week of GATE class. Ms. Carter will send instructions for registering to ensure you don't miss any important communications.

Is my child required to complete the class blog every week?
Yes! Every student is expected to complete the Carter blog each week that Ms. Carter assigns or posts a new topic. The blog serves as a reflection and assessment of student learning for concepts/topics featured during the week. Students should think critically when responding to the blog. The blog will be reviewed by the GATE teacher. A child may be asked to communicate about his/her response in class.

Can my child have a snack during GATE class?
Yes! Your child may bring a healthy DRY snack to class on GATE day. We are a NUT FREE classroom due to severe allergies. Students will be able to have a working snack at their convenience during the day, as children have various eating needs. Please select healthy options and avoid wet snacks, such as, applesauce, canned fruit, etc. on GATE day. It is okay to bring a bottle of water to class also. NO fruit drinks or colored drinks are allowed in the GATE classroom. Thanks for your cooperation with our SNACK POLICY.
